Karan A. Doekhi

Karan A. Doekhi is a lawyer at heart. He was born and raised in the Netherlands and studied law at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. In 2008, Karan started working as a lawyer.

Some years after law life began for Karan, he attended and successfully completed the Legal English course at the Regina Coelli Language Institute and the National and International Contracts course at the Grotius Academy.

Karan's practice here in Curaçao at Murray Attorneys at Law focuses on corporate and contract law in the broadest sense. For example, Karan advises entrepreneurs on directors' liability, shareholder disputes and takeover procedures. Karan also advises entrepreneurs on contractual matters, such as drafting or reviewing custom-made commercial contracts. Finally, Karan litigates in Curacao and on the other islands.

Besides being a lawyer, Karan is a guest lecturer at the University of Curacao. He teaches various civil subjects including (in-depth) Business Law, Property Law and the Contract Law. Karan also provides legal courses for various other educational institutions. Teaching is a deep-rooted passion of Karan next to his work as a lawyer. Herewith Karan tries to contribute to the development of the new generation of jurists and lawyers on and also outside Curacao. Furthermore, Karan is writing a dissertation on the shareholders agreement in corporate law.

Karan has been a member of the Rotary on Curaçao for some time now and through that network tries to be in the middle of Curaçao society. In his spare time (but also outside of it) Karan loves the beautiful things in life. For Karan, these include traveling to far and often different destinations together with his wife, but Karan can also enjoy a nice dinner with a snack and a drink!
